The senior evaluation specialist for governance, politics, and peacebuilding (GPP) assists with the development and management of 3ie’s GPP–related programs including preparing proposal materials for potential program funders, writing program documents, reviewing grant proposals submitting to 3ie and participating in selection decisions, providing quality assurance for 3ie–funded studies, and managing external reviewers, among other tasks. The senior evaluation specialist is expected to take over full direction of these programs once they are fully established. He/she also communicates and negotiates directly with funders and represents 3ie to high–level policy makers concerned with GPP programs. The senior evaluation specialist conducts research and writes documents including scoping reports, guidance documents, replication studies, and systematic reviews.
The senior evaluation specialist for GPP also plays a key role in 3ie’s professional services program. He/she provides professional services to 3ie stakeholders related to all aspects of 3ie’s work (e.g. impact evaluations, systematic reviews, capacity building) and assists in the management of the professional services program by writing technical specifications for professional services contracts, reviewing professional services products, recruiting consultants, standardizing products, and other tasks as requested.
As one of 3ie’s evaluation specialists, the senior evaluation specialist for GPP conducts tasks including reviewing and scoring proposals for other grants programs, serving as internal reviewer for 3ie–funded impact evaluations, providing content for 3ie’s website and other dissemination outlets, participating and presenting in conferences, and providing professional services. As a member of the Washington office staff, the senior evaluation specialist for GPP also occasionally assists with other programs managed in the Washington office including the replication program, Registry of International Development Impact Evaluations, the Register of Impact Evaluation Published Studies, and others.
