RSIS Singapore: Research Positions Open for Food Security and Climate Change

The RSIS Centre for Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies is undertaking research into various aspects of food security and is seeking suitable candidates for each of these 3 areas: 1) the impact of climate change on food security; 2) the dynamics of food stocks in a changing regional environment; and 3) building a dynamic model of food availability to facilitate national policy planning. The research seeks to provide policy guidance regional, national and local levels in the Asia-Pacific.

Successful candidates will be expected to play an important role in conceptualising and implementing project objectives, and to publish widely in the content areas being explored.

(1) Impact of climate change on food security (Research Fellow)

Candidates should have a PhD in International Relations, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Agricultural Economics or a related field. Candidates should have demonstrable English policy/academic writing skills, quantitative research experience, and a working knowledge of food production systems. S/he also must be prepared to work in an inter-disciplinary environment and conduct research across different sectors.

(2) Dynamics of food stocks in a changing regional environment (Research Fellow / Research Analyst)
(3) Building a dynamic model of food availability to facilitate national policy planning (Research Fellow / Research Analyst)

Candidates applying for the research analyst positions (2) and (3) should possess at least a Master degree in International Relations, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Agricultural Economics or a related field. Candidates should also have demonstrable English policy/academic writing skills, quantitative research experience, and a working knowledge of food production systems. S/he also must be prepared to work in an inter-disciplinary environment and conduct research across different sectors. Applicants who wish to work on building a dynamic model of food availability are required to possess modelling and agriculture expertise. For research analysts, opportunity exists to apply for admission to a PhD programme. Applicants with a PhD will be considered for the Research Fellow positions.
