Phase 1
3 week training in Stockholm, divided into the following themes:

First theme: Leadership and Appreciative Inquiry
Using methods such as appreciative inquiry and strength based coaching, the training draws on developments within the academic field of psychology that uses positive feedback, reflection and stimuli to enhance capacities, self esteem and group dynamics.

This part of the training aims to both equip participants with tools to coach and lead using these methods, as well as to use them for self reflection and personal development. Each participant works on a specific problem that they identified in their leadership and/organization and uses different methods to find new ways of approaching and resolving the issues for the future.

Second theme: Best practice
This part of the training consists of:

Specialist workshops
– A number of (4-7) different workshops, evolving around themes that are related to LGBTI and human rights, specifically designed for leaders of the global movement. Swedish as well as international experts are invited to share best practice in different fields such as youth, capacity building, NGO advocacy or health.

Exchange of best practice in the group
– Many of the training participants are themselves experts in their fields, and have experiences from challenging, successful and inspiring events in the history of the global LGBTI movement. The training will draw on these experiences in the group, through a structured formed of exchange sharing (including methods inspired by the Japanese presentation technique Pecha Kucha).

Third theme: Project management
This part of the training focuses on executive leadership, enhancing leaders’ skills in budget management, accounting, report writing, grant application, fundraising etc.

Apart from the three main themes of the training, the training also provides access to peer support and coaching to enable individuals to work on their personal leadership challenges.

Another integral part of the training is networking within and outside the group of participants, activities that also function as empowering opportunities to take pride in past and present achievements.

Deadline for applications is January 6, 2014
